Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal built in white Marble is the mausoleum of Mumtaz Mahal, wife of Mughal emperor Shahjahan. This magnificent structure is a world class example of Persian and Mughal architecture. It is situated on the south bank of river Yamuna and is surrounded by gardens on three sides. The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.
Sikandara
Sikandara is an impressive mausoleum situated on the outskirts of the Agra City. The Mughal Emperor Akbar the great was buried here. He himself during his lifetime had completed the tomb and laid out a beautiful garden. The mausoleum is surrounded by gardens on four sides. The entire tomb is constructed of red sandstone and the top storey is constructed in white marble, in Indo-Mughal style of architecture.
Agra Fort
The Agra Fort, also known as the “Lal –Qila” is a symbol of Mughal power and strength. Situated on the right bank of the river Yamuna, it was constructed by the third Mughal emperor Akbar. The fort is one of the most important, strongest and strategically built forts of the Mughals. It is entirely built in red sandstone and is protected by a wide and deep water canal. The expansive fort house few other major structures as well like the Diwan-i-aam, Diwan-i-Khaas, Jahangir Mahal , Moti Masjid, Delhi Gate, Akbari Gate etc. The massiveness of this fort will surely mesmerize you and will take you in the historic Mughal era virtually.
