Bikaner, a colourful city situated in the state of Rajasthan is like an oasis in the middle of Thar Desert. The city of Bikaner was established by Rao Bika. The Junagarh fort was built by Raja Rai Singh; earlier this fort was known as Chintamani fort and in 20th century its name was changed. Unlike other forts this fort is not built on a Hilltop. The fort is so vast that it encompasses Chandra Mahal, Anup Mahal, Hawa Mahal and Deewan - e - Khas. The Lalgarh Palace in Bikaner attracts tourists due to its architecture which include European, Mughal and Rajput styles; designed by Samuel Jacob it is made up of red sand stone. Ghajner Palace is a beautiful tourist attraction and fascinates everyone. It is a beautiful Lake side Palace used as a place of retreat after the hunting by Royal families. The Rampuria Havelis are the beautiful example of creativity and talent of the artists of bygone era; built in red stone and wood, these Bikaneri Havelis express the carvings at its best.
